The annual Arbor Day Tree Giveaway on the campus of Gadsden State Cherokee in Centre, once again, proved to be a tremendous success – with more than 150 area residents showing up to take home a tree
This annual event, first celebrated more than 135 years ago, promotes the planting of trees, and is designed to heighten awareness of the fact that “going green” is now more important than ever.
We spoke with Matt Woodfin of the Forestry Commission during that event
For additional information on “going green” and helping the environment through the planting of trees, you can contact the Cherokee County Forestry Commission at (256) 927-3163.
