A Centre man is facing multiple charges following a pursuit that began in Cherokee County.
According to Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, deputies were checking out a suspicious vehicle parked in front of the former Lindsey’s store late Sunday night, and the driver attempted to flee.
Deputies pursued the vehicle for several miles, giving chase into Georgia before returning to Alabama.
The driver of the fleeing vehicle lost control, ran off the roadway on County Road 78, and struck a tree.
27-year old Dusty Robert Rogers was charged with numerous traffic violations and other offenses including assault, attempting to elude, and resisting arrest.
A passenger was injured in the accident and transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Alabama State Trooper accident reports identified her as 25-year old Jennifer Wright of Ragland.
During the pursuit, Rogers struck a patrol vehicle causing property damage.
Rogers was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Facility, where he is being held pending a bond hearing.
