The National Weather Service has revised its forecast slightly with Cherokee County seeing mostly, if not all snow tonight instead of ice.

A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 a.m. Thursday.

At 2 p.m. Wednesday, a representative from Alabama Emergency Management Agency Office in Birmingham gave a weather briefing for local emergency officials and other personnel.

The majority of the snowfall is expected between 6 and 9 p.m. with as much as an inch an hour falling. Then, we will taper off to flurries after midnight.

It has been sleeting for most of the afternoon and we have received some reports of icy roads in scattered areas.

For instance, a listener called in and reported that County Road 29 off of Forney has ice on it.

In neighboring DeKalb County – road conditions have deteriorated on Highway 35 – between Ft Payne and Rainsville as ice has started to accumulate.

Ft Payne Gap from Ft Payne to Five Points has been closed.

Adamsburg Road in DeKalb County is reportedly very slippery.
