We have received calls from the Piedmont area and Pollard’s Bend concerning loud booms heard in the area.
There is a simple explanation and there is no cause for alarm.
The U.S. Marine Corps’ 3rd Battalion, 14th Regiment from Chattanooga is conducting live fire exercises at Anniston’s Pelham Range through Sunday.
The sounds you hear are from 155 mm Howitzers.
The Marines are only firing between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m.
Once again, if you hear some loud booms, it’s part of a U.S. Military training exercise.
