The Leesburg Town Council has approved the construction of a new pavilion at Leesburg Landing.

The pavilion will be similar to the one at Cherokee Rock Village (pictured) and will cost 46-thousand 958 dollars.

Last month, the council approved a bid of almost 115-thousand dollars from McKinney Construction to build a bath house at the Landing.

Brian McKinney will also be doing the pavilion work.

The improvements are expected bring in more anglers to Leesburg and officials hope to also land big fishing tournaments in the future.

Also during Monday’s Leesburg Town Council meeting, the recent snow was very much on everyone’s mind.

Council members approved the purchase of a 4-wheel drive that can be used in case of another bad weather event.

The 2006 Chevy Trailblazer will cost 7-thousand dollars.

The council also approved to declare a 1999 Chevy Blazer as surplus so it can be sold.

Council members also voted to continue to pay for insurance for Leesburg Volunteer firefighters.

Councilman and Fire Chief Joe Sonaty explained the benefit.

The council also heard that the town got a clean bill of health during a recent audit.
