A tanker-truck overturned on Highway 48 in Chattooga County shortly after 8:00 Thursday morning.  Sheriff Jeff Schrader said that the accident took place on Highway 48 at Edison Street, in Menlo.

A small amount of non-hazardous liquid spilled from the truck onto the roadway causing a traffic delay in the area as both lanes had to be closed until the material could be cleaned up; afterwards both lanes of traffic were re-opened since the truck was actually off the side of the road.

An off-load vehicle is being brought in from Chattanooga and until the vehicle arrives both lanes of traffic will remain open – however, the road will once again be shut down as the truck is being uprighted.
