The Cedar Bluff Town Council has approved change to the annual Liberty Day celebration in an attempt to make it more financially feasible.

According to Mayor Martha Baker, the changes include no more puppeteers, charging $350 for a food booth and $75 for an art booth.

Also during Monday’s Council meeting, Assistant Cedar Bluff Fire Chief Brian Garner submitted his resignation.

The council voted to add two new firefighters, Nick Combs and Mark Baty, bringing the force to 15.

Council members also approved a measure to change the work schedule of all town employees to bi-weekly in hopes of cutting down on overtime pay.

A resolution regarding surplus property was also approved by the council. The property, mostly belonging to the police department includes a Ford Bronco, a dump truck and a utility truck.

Sealed bids for the surplus property will be accepted until the close of business on February the 28th.
