An Etowah County woman has been arrested on the charge of chemical endangerment of a child, which is a felony offense – after she admitted to using drugs the day before her baby was born.
39 year old Adrian LaShay Stevens of Gadsden gave birth to a child that died seven days later, in a Birmingham area hospital, due to an intestinal disease.
Sheriff Todd Entrekin said Stevens was booked into the Etowah County Detention January 16th, and was later released on a $25,000 property bond.
She is subject to drug testing through Community Corrections as a condition of her bond.
