Message From Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver

Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver

From my conversations with other sheriff’s across our state and country, I am aware that substantial increases in property crimes, especially thefts, are occurring everywhere, just as it is here at home in Cherokee County.  Instead of just responding to calls after crimes have occurred, I like to utilize proactive methods to combat criminal activity.

We have deployed our mobile office to outlying communities without municipal police forces in our county such as Spring Garden and Broomtown, which resulted in significant reductions in calls for service and criminal activity.  This morning (January 16th) we moved our mobile office into the Sand Rock community at the location of the Sand Rock Fire Department.  Deputies have been busy responding to calls and conducting routine equipment checkpoints in an effort to make a strong presence noted by those who travel through this area of our county.  We are asking the assistance of the Sand Rock community to help us work together to make their community safe.

I would like to express my thanks to those of you that are doing their civic duty and working to make Cherokee County a safer place to live, work, and raise a family.
