The Leesburg Town Council has approved a bid for the construction of a bath house at the Landing.
Two bids were received for the project with McKinney Construction submitting the low bid of 114-thousand 922 dollars.
The bid also included an additional 33-hundred dollars for the installation of exhaust fans and heaters.
Councilman Brandy Pierce made the motion to accept the bid.
The total is less than the 125-thousand dollars that had been budgeted for the bath house.
The other bid was from H&H Contracting in the amount of just over 123-thousand dollars.
In other action, the council voted to hire a part-time police officer.
Jimmy DeBerry is retired from the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
The council then approved the purchase of a new police vehicle.

DeBerry will make between 12 and 12.50 an hour and will work 24 hours a week.
The position for a part-time officer was included in the 2013-2014 Budget.
