CLOSINGS & DELAYS FOR TUESDAY, JANUARY 7th

All Cherokee County Schools are on a two-hour delay (Tuesday) – Gadsden State Community College will also delay opening by two hours.
The Cherokee County Child Development Center will open at 8:00 this (Tuesday) morning.
The CED Mental Health Center, located at 200 Dean Buttram Avenue in Centre, will be on a two hour delay (Tuesday).
DeKalb County Schools, Ft Payne City Schools, and Cornerstone Christian Academy are also on a two-hour delay along withGadsden City and Etowah County Schools.
All Calhoun County, Piedmont City, Anniston City, Cleburne County, Donoho, Jacksonville City, Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic, and Oxford City schools are all on a two hour delay both today and tomorrow (Tuesday and Wednesday).
Over in Georgia all Chattooga County Schools will be closed today (Tuesday) as will Rome City and Floyd County Schools.
The Cherokee County Administrative Building and Courthouse will also have a delayed opening of two hours today (Tuesday) with traffic court starting at 10:00am.
If you need somewhere warm to go during the bitter cold – a warming shelter has been opened in the Educational Building at Cherokee County Health & Rehab located at 833 Cedar Bluff Road – this is for anyone needing a warm place to stay.
There are cots and blankets available, however if you have any small children or anyone needing special supplies or medicine – you need to bring those items with you and no pets are allowed.
The facility will be available through Wednesday morning.
We also want to remind you that there are also several “warming centers” that have been opened in Etowah County through Wednesday:
The Carnes Recreation Center, 102 Case Avenue in Attalla – opening each day at 8:00am / Elliot Community Center at 2829 West Meighen Boulevard in Gadsden – open 8:00am to 5:00pm daily / the Carver Community Center at 1030 Tuscaloosa Avenue – open from 8:00am to 5:00pm each day.
