Fort Payne Police have made three arrests in connection with a string of recent burglaries.

On the day after Christmas, a resident on Maple Drive in north Fort Payne reported that someone had entered his residence and stolen two Auburn footballs, two Auburn prints, an Auburn poster and several books of check in the victim’s name.

The same morning, a business located in north Fort Payne, Bailey Enterprises, was broken into and company checks were taken, along with a 1989 Chevrolet 4×4 pickup.

Later during the same day, a check from Bailey enterprises was forged and passed at First State Bank in Fort Payne, another was attempted to be cashed at a local grocery store in the same name and several were passed out in the county.

The investigation resulted in the arrest of 30-year old Brandi Nicole Rothell, who is charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphanalia, Five counts of Possession of a Forged Instrument, and Five counts of Identity Theft.

Police also arrested 35-year old Brent Eugene Rothell on charges of Theft of Property 1st and 32-year old Jason Ryan Benefield on two counts of Unlawful Possession of Forgery Instruments.

The Chevrolet 1989 4×4 pickup has been recovered; an Auburn print has also been recovered along with several smaller items taken from the burglaries and from vehicle stolen in the Dekalb County area.

Other arrests are forth coming and the investigation is still ongoing.

Several departments have been involved to include Fort Payne Police, Dekalb County Sheriff office and Dekalb County Drug Task Force, Etowah County Drug Task Force, Gadsden Police, Rainsville Police and Sylvania Police.
