This coming Saturday, Piedmont Mayor Bill Baker and many others will take the plunge for a good cause.
The first-ever Piedmont Polar Plunge will be held this Saturday at 10 a.m. at the new Piedmont Aquatic Center, which is located near the sports complex.
Baker says he has put out the word on social media and has gotten responses from 80 or more people saying that they will be joining him in taking the plunge. He has also gotten several “Maybes” and others who say they won’t be jumping in the 45-degree water, but they’ll come out and make a donation instead.
Baker says the money raised Saturday will go to help local cancer patients through Venitia’s Foundation.
Venecia Benefield Butler is a four-time survivor of breast cancer and formed the non-profit organization to provide aid, support, and comfort to cancer patients and their families.
Once again, the Polar Plunge is this coming Saturday (January the 4th) at the new Piedmont Aquatic Center.
Anyone who would like to participate can sign up on site the day of the event.
