Three people lost their lives in a tragic two-vehicle accident Friday, including a Centre Police Officer.
According to a Public Information Officer with the Alabama State Patrol, Jeff Bryant, an investigator with the Centre Police Department, died when his patrol car and a 2007 Honda Accord collided head-on on Highway 35 near the Blanche Community, which is about six miles north of Gaylesville.
The driver of the Accord, identified as 24-year old Charity Sloane Brewster of Gaylesville, also died in the wreck, as did her 2-year old son Scout Brewster.
A third passenger in the car, another child, was airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Chattanooga.
It is not believed his injuries are life-threatening.
The exact cause of the accident, which occurred at around 3 p.m., remains under investigation by the Alabama State Patrol.
The wreck closed both lanes of Highway 35 for several hours Friday.
