Cedar Bluff School has a new Principal.
On Tuesday, the Cherokee County Board of education voted unanimously to hire Kevin Porter to replace Bobby Mintz, who is retiring.
Porter graduated from Jacksonville State University with a Master’s in Administration.
He has been in education for 22 years, the last seven and a half as Assistant Principal at Cedar Bluff.
Porter had words of praise for the faculty and staff at Cedar Bluff.
In other action, the school board voted to post the now-vacant Assistant Principal’s job, along with openings for a Physical Education Paraprofessional at Centre Middle School and a lunchroom worker at Centre Elementary to replace Kathy Wadsworth, who is retiring after many years of service.
Also Tuesday night, the school board also awarded a contract to TDS Telecom for digital transmission services.
The contract will run from July 1st of 2014 to June 30th of 2017.
Superintendent Mitchell Guice explained the length of the contract.
The next school board meeting will be on January the 7th at 6 p.m. in the meeting room at the Cherokee County Career and Technology Center.
