Marshall County Escapee Captured in Leesburg Monday Morning

An escapee from Marshall County is now back in custody after being found in Leesburg.

According to information contained in a news release from Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver, Chief Deputy Tim Hays and Leesburg Police Chief Lanny Ransum – along with members of law enforcement from Marshall County – located their suspect, identified as 27 year old Jamie Lamar Dawson, hiding inside a mobile home on Hale Drive, around 11:30 Monday morning (December 16th).

Dawson was taken into custody without incident, and he was transported to the Cherokee County Detention Center on charges related to negotiating worthless negotiable instruments.

He will be extradited back to Marshall County in order to face escape charges in connection with his disappearance from a work release program there.
