Centre Resident Jack Waters Enters Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame

Jack WatersA Cherokee County resident has been named to the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame.

Jack Waters was an all-state player for Hall of Fame coach Bud Ritter at Madison in the 1950’s – after averaging almost 18 points a game and 15 rebounds a game his senior year he headed to the University of Mississippi – where he graduated as the school’s 2nd all-time leading scorer with a total of 1,384 career points.

Waters also earned All American and three-time 1st Team all SEC honors; named to the school’s athletic Hall of Fame and Team of the Century and named an “SEC Legend” – he was drafted by the Cincinnati Royals, prior to a 45 year coaching career in high school and college basketball, in Mississippi and Georgia – including head coaching positions at Georgia State and Delta State.

Waters currently resides in Centre.

The Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame Board of Directors recently announced that the Men’s 2014 Induction Class will be honored next March 26th (2014).
