Georgia Power announces the addition of a new outage notification option to its online Outage & Storm Center.
The new service, available once customers have signed in to their online account enables them to choose from multiple notification options, including text message, phone call and email.
Once an option is selected, customers automatically receive personalized updates should a power outage occur at their home or business due to severe weather, traffic accidents or other causes.
The new Outage Alert service provides users with:
− The ability to register up to five people per account, which is an important function for families and businesses.
− Detailed information, including the cause of the outage and an estimated time of restoration.
− Updates if the estimated time of restoration changes.
− A “Do Not Disturb” option to silence alerts overnight or at other preferred times.
Visitors to Georgia Power’s on-line Outage & Storm Center can also report an outage and access the company’s recently introduced interactive “Outage Map”, which allows them to view detailed information on known outages across the state and track crews as they work to restore power.
The Outage & Storm Center also contains important information about severe weather, including guidance on what to do before, during and after a storm.
