Local FFA students helped to kick off the first annual Cherokee County Agricultural Fair Friday afternoon.

The event is sponsored by the Cherokee County FFA Association.

Daphne Rogers is one of the organizers.

Cherokee County School Superintendent Mitchell Guice praised all of the volunteers and sponsors who came together to make the fair happen.

The fair is a fundraising event to sponsor Cherokee County Students to attend the Washington Leadership Conference in the summer of 2014 as Cherokee County Career and Technology Center Principal Brett Keasler explained.

State Representative Richard Lindsey was also on hand for the ribbon cutting.

The fair will continue Saturday starting at 9 a.m.

Fireworks will close out the event Saturday night.
