Rome Police have arrested two men in connection with a murder that occurred almost a year ago.

At approximately 8:45 p.m. Friday evening 26-year old Darnell Labron Mitchell and 31-year old Willie Lewis Dublin were taken into custody by Floyd County Sheriff’s deputies at a home located at 512 Harper Avenue in Rome.

The suspects are accused of attempting to rob Willie Terry Slack at about 10:15 p.m. on New Year’s Eve of 2012 at a home on Kingston Avenue.

During the course of the alleged robbery Slack was shot and killed.

Rome Police detectives have been working the case ever since and 11 months later have two men behind bars and more arrests possibly on the way.

Each suspect is charged with one count of felony murder and armed robbery.

Rome Police Lt. Gary Clayton expects further arrests in the case as the investigation is ongoing at this time.
