According to information in a news release from the Alabama State Trooper Post at Jacksonville, a 27 year old Altoona man was fatally injured in a single-vehicle crash on Friday afternoon.
David Lee Byrd was killed when the vehicle he was driving left Vaughn Road – approximately a mile east of Walnut Grove – struck a mailbox and then went down an embankment before finally overturning.
The accident remains under investigation by Alabama State Troopers.
