In girls volleyball from Saturday, three local teams played in the Super Regionals at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville.
In Class 1A, Spring Garden defeated Decatur Heritage in the Quarterfinals (25-21, 27-25, 21-25, 27-25) before losing to tournament champion Addison in the Semifinals (25-14, 25-12, 25-9). Spring Garden then defeated Athens Bible in the consolation game (28-26, 25-27, 25-12, 25-16).
In Class 2A, Sand Rock won their Quarterfinal match against Woodland (25-15, 25-8, 25-12) but lost to tournament champion Lexington in the semis (25-16, 25-15, 25-20). Sand Rock then went on to win the consolation game against Hatton (25-19, 25-23, 25-15).
In Class 4A, Cherokee County lost its Quarterfinal matchup against Guntersville (25-11, 25-11, 25-16). Guntersville then went on to defeat Pope John Paul II in the semis and Jacksonville in the finals to win the championship.
Next up, Spring Garden will open up play in the State Championship Tournament Wednedsay against St. Luke’s Episcopal while Sand Rock will play Providence Christian.
