Dekalb Deputy Found Dead At Talladega Speedway, Heart Attack Suspected

The Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of one of its own.

According to Sheriff Jimmy Harris, Deputy Allen L. Kay was found in his camper at the Talladega Speedway Saturday afternoon after working a midnight shift security detail.

Talladega corner and Sheriff’s Office ruled no fail play is suspected, it appears to be possible heart attack.

Deputy Kay has worked at the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office for 8 years in the Medical department of the jail, working daily taking care of the inmates.

Sheriff Harris says Kay was a man of integrity, a hard worker, and was well respected.

He will be missed by the Sheriff’s office co-workers, family and friends. May God be with his family and friends during this tragic time. The Funeral arrangements will be as followed:

Visitation will be at the Rainsville Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 22nd from 4pm-8pm and Wednesday, October 23rd from 10am-2pm.

Services will be at the Rainsville Funeral Home Chapel Wednesday, October 23rd at 2pm.
