Man Ejected From Truck In Saturday Wreck – UPDATED

One man was airlifted to an undisclosed hospital following a two-vehicle wreck just after 10 a.m. Saturday near the Grub Mart in Centre.

According to initial reports, a Dodge Durango collided with a Mazda pickup truck at the intersection of West Main and Griffith Street.

The impact ejected the driver of the pickup.

No one else was riding in the truck, but there were three passengers in the Durango.

It did not appear that anyone in the SUV sustained serious injuries.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Centre Police Department.

UPDATE

A Saturday morning accident has sent a Gaylesville man to the hospital.

According to Centre Police Department accident reports, the wreck occurred at 10:15am near the Grub Mart in Centre at the intersection of West Main and Griffith Street, when a Dodge Durango collided with a Mazda pickup truck.

The driver of the pickup, 70 year old Billy Chumbler, was ejected from his vehicle upon impact.

He was taken to Cherokee Medical Center by Cherokee EMS, and from there, he was air-lifted to UAB in Birmingham; no information regarding his condition has been made available.

The driver of the Dodge Durango was listed on the report as being a 15 year old juvenile; neither he nor the two passengers in the vehicle was listed as being hurt in the crash.

The cause of that accident remains under investigation.
