The Ohio-based non-Profit organization supplies Service Dogs for disabled children to make their lives as typical and safe as possible.

Bain will be receiving a Seizure and Mobility Assistance Dog to help alert his parents to the next seizure, so they can have a sense of safety for Bain.

Erica Brown with Clara’s Cause, who helps to raise funds for “4 Paws for Ability” told us a little more about these remarkable animals.

Two service dogs, Camaro and Soleil, were on hand for Saturday’s fundraiser.

Brown says the dogs use their sense of smell in order to tell if the child is in danger.  They can detect a scent given off by the skin when a seizure is occurring or is about to occur.

Bain Hammett was a very active, happy and healthy 4-year old little boy until December 2, 2012, when he was found unresponsive and having seizures. A CAT scan at Floyd Medical Center in Rome revealed several areas swelling on his brain.

Bain was airlifted to Egleston Children’s Hospital in Atlanta where he spent three weeks in ICU, most of that in a medically induced coma to keep his brain from seizing.

After that he spent weeks doing rehab therapy at Scottish Rite Hospital and additional weeks rehabbing at home.

He is doing better now but still suffers from seizures.

As far as the tournament itself, Johnny Bentley, Lee Morgan, Tim Hill and Kurt Duryea were the winners.

The foursome fired an 18 under par 53 to finish in a tie with Bill Trammell, Terry Adams, Eddie Robertson and Bobby Russell.

Bentley, Morgan, Hill and Duryea were awarded the victory on a scorecard playoff thanks to an eagle on the par 5 sixteenth hole.

Saturday’s event also featured a silent auction and much more.
