It’s being called one of the largest drug busts ever in Polk County, Georgia.

Nearly 5,000 Marijuana plants have been uprooted from the area since its discovery by a Georgia State Patrol helicopter Thursday morning.

The crop’s street value has been found to be at least $9.2 million dollars.

According to Cedartown Assistant Police Chief Jamie Newsome, authorities have not yet charged anyone in the sophisticated Marijuana growing case in the western portion of the county, but they do have leads.

This isn’t a typical investigation, Newsome says, because this isn’t a typical Marijuana bust.

The field, which is located off of Sanders Cemetery Road in Cedartown, looks to be the work of a criminal enterprise, who “knew what they were doing.”

Authorities found shacks where the plant was dried and a retaining pond used to water the illegal crop.
