Centre’s J.T. Hill – Gaylesville’s Gage Davis – and Collinsville’s Jalyn Martin – were among the select group of statewide football players to be recognized in the weekly AHSAA Prep Spotlight.
Hill, the Junior Quarterback for Cherokee County – completed 10-of-12 passes for 146 yards and also rushed for 73 yards on 15 carries as the Warriors edged region rival Alexandria 33-29.
Davis, just a freshman – piled up 211 yards rushing for the Trojans – that, on 20 carries with four touchdowns to lead the Trojans (2-0) to a 35-28 victory at Spring Garden.
Collinsville’s Martin rushed for 172 yards on just seven carries and scored three touchdowns – 61, 20, and 49 yards – to lead the Panthers to a 46-12 victory over Jacksonville Christian.
This week Cherokee County is at Jacksonville, Piedmont travels to Glencoe, Sand Rock hosts North Sand Mountain, Cedar Bluff is away at Coosa Christian, Spring Garden is on the road at Valley Head, Collinsville welcomes Woodland and Gaylesville entertains Ragland in a non-region game.
