Man Charged In Motor Vehicle Break In

MICKEY RAY BRADFORD

A 43-year old Calhoun, Georgia man is facing charges of unlawfully breaking and entering a motor vehicle and theft of property 2rd degree following an incident on August 26th in the Centre K-Mart parking lot.

Corporal Brett Grimes and Officer Billy Roche responded to the scene after receiving a call that a vehicle had been broken into and an amplifier speaker had been taken.

The victim told police that the suspect had left the scene and that vehicle was last witnessed heading back toward town on Main Street.

The next day, acting on a tip, Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship went to a home on Alexis Road.

Through pictures taken from the security camera at the nearby Waffle King, the victim identified the vehicle but the owner of the car was not driving it at the time of the incident at K-Mart.

Instead, it was the owner’s employee, identified as Mickey Ray Bradford.

When officers went to question Bradford, he ran into the woods behind a building on Alexis Road.

Despite an extensive search, which included a K-9 Unit from the Rome Police Department, Bradford was not found.

Later that day, police received a call from an individual who said they could bring the suspect to them and at around 8:30 p.m. Bradford turned himself in.

In addition to the charges filed by Centre Police, Bradford is also wanted out of Georgia on Probation Violation charges.

Corporal Grimes would like to thank the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office, Rome Police and the other agencies involved in capturing the suspect.
