Former Cherokee County High School & Jacksonville State standout Coty Blanchard, is winding down his first season with the Class A Princeton Rays of the Appalachian League.
Monday night Blanchard – playing second base – made a diving stop on a sharply hit ball to right field and threw out the potential winning run at home plate in the top of the 11th inning.
In the bottom half of the 11th, Blanchard’s line drive single brought home the winning run in the Rays’ 2-1 victory
Over the last ten games Blanchard has hit .273 – and he is currently fourth on the team in batting average and second in doubles.
