Centre Council Gets Update On Armory Building Renovation Budget

armory

The Centre City Council received an update Tuesday night from Mayor Tony Wilkie regarding the budget for renovations at the old Armory Building.

The council approved the new budget numbers.

Renovations will include repairs to the roof and restrooms, bringing them up to standard and making them ADA compliant.

Plans are to also add heat and air-conditioning for a main portion of the building.

Once renovated, the building will become the Centre Community Center.

In other action, the council voted to purchase a mower for the Street Department.

The Cub Cadet mower costs 7-thousand 200 dollars, which is a little more than other mowers being looked at.

However, it comes with a four year warranty as opposed to just two years.

The council also approved the addition of Park Street to the list of roads to be striped.

With the addition, the list totals 1-thousand 660 dollars.

The striping of the parking lot at the softball complex also received council approval.

That project will cost 1-thousand 785 dollars.

Councilman Marc Johnson concluded Tuesday’s meeting by announcing that the first meeting of the newly formed SPARK Committee will be held on Tuesday, September the 3rd at 5 p.m.
