The Centre City Council Tuesday night voted to allow a local group for recovering alcoholics and addicts to use the JFK Building for its meetings.

12th Tradition will get to use the building free of charge, but there will be more oversight over who uses the building, and when, due to past problems.

During Tuesday’s council meeting Mayor Tony Wilkie cited instances where the water has been left running and unauthorized duplicates being made of the keys to the building.

As a result the locks are being changed and the new keys cannot be duplicated.

Wilkie added that there will be three keys made and the person in charge of a particular meeting or event will have to sign out that key.

Mayor Wilkie also asked the local concerned citizen’s group, who also utilizes the JFK Building, to submit a calendar of upcoming events, including a list of chaperones for those events.

That way if the water is left running or there are other problems, the city will know who to contact.

Also Tuesday night, the council voted to renew its contract with RDS for services related to delinquent business licenses.

Year to date, RDS has recovered 9-thousand dollars for the city.
