Mr. Ralph A. Meade, age 85 of Centre, passed away Saturday August 10, 2013 at his residence

Funeral services for Mr. Meade will be 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Perry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mark Cosby officiating: burial will follow in Cherokee Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 P.M. Tuesday.

Pallbearers will be Hal Peek, Jay Jordan, Mack Starling, Richard Lindsey, Jerry Clifton, Tommy Miller, & Johnny Proctor III. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sue Young, John Proctor Jr., Tom Roane, Dean Buttram Jr., Robert Daniel, Fayne Lindsey, Dianne Battles & All close personal friends.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Nancy Brown Meade: son, Jimmy (Sharon) Meade of Knoxville, TN: daughters, Dianne (Charles) Latty & Vicky Meade of Centre: brother, Tommy (Martha) Meade of Eatonton, GA: sister, Charlotte (James) Caldwell of Columbia, SC: Grandchildren, Nancy M. (Russ) Wood, Matt (Stephanie) Meade, John (Renee) Latty, Jamie (Mary) Latty, April Meade, Nick (Calyn) Meade & Keri Meade. 12 Great-grandchildren, 2 Great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Greg Meade and sister, Lois Fleming Boatfield.

Mr. Meade was a native of Jefferson County, the son of the late Cooper & Vasti Allison Meade and a member of the Cedar Bluff 1st Baptist Church. Mr. Meade served 3 terms as a State Representative, 16 years as Cherokee County Commission Chairman, was President of Ralph Meade Realty, former owner of the Lighthouse Restaurant and Managed WAGC Radio Station. He was a Mason of 50 years, was a member of the Rotary Club and many other organizations over the years.
