FFA Corn Sale A Huge Success

This was the second year for the Centre FFA Corn Sale, and indications are it that it was even bigger than last year’s inaugural event.

Students gathered the Silver King corn and sold it for $3.00 per dozen ears.

The sale was held at Mary Ruth Ray’s Greenhouse on County Road 22, which was supposed to get underway at 9 a.m. but ended up starting a little early when customers began showing up just after 8.

Last year, 500 dozen ears were sold in about two hours and it looks like even more was sold this year and in less time.

Retired teacher Ricky Ray thanked the community for their support and all of those who helped make the corn sale possible.

All proceeds benefit the FFA students by helping offset expenses for the trips associated with their field of study, as well as FFA dues and other things needed for their program throughout the year.
