Man Who Fled Deadly Accident in Cedartown, Now Charged with Vehicular Homicide 1st Degree

Wood, Robert NelsonThe man who fled from a deadly accident last Sunday morning (August 4th) – leaving two young children behind – has now been charged with Vehicular Homicide 1st Degree and with DUI.

42 year old Robert Nelson Wood has been served with nine warrants by the Georgia State Patrol, which suggested that he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs, the morning the lost control of his vehicle which left the roadway, struck a ditch and turned over; the wreck took place on the Tallapoosa Highway in Cedartown, Georgia – and afterwards, Wood fled the scene, leaving both of his girlfriend’s children – Trent Brooks age six and Gabriel Brooks age five – behind while he attempted to elude law enforcement.

Both children were transported to a Chattanooga-area hospital – where six year old Trent passed away; Gabriel was listed in critical condition, but continues to improve and is alert and awake.
