Curriculum Supervisor DeWayne Pierce returned to the WEIS Radio studios on Friday morning, to continue the discussion on the many changes that students will be facing in Cherokee County, as the new school year begins.
Pierce spoke with WEIS Radio’s Jerry Baker about the phasing out of the Alabama High School Graduation Exam, and just how that works – and which students that will affect; Pierce said that first time 9th graders in the year 2010 or 2011 or earlier – will still be required to take the exam.
Another phasing out process will involve the end of the Alabama Reading and Mathematics Test, for grades three through eight; that test will be replaced with ACT Aspire.
Another topic included assessments across the board in the school system.
