Dekalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris reports the seizure of over 450 marijuana plants over the course of the week during the mid-summer eradication program.

Officers found over 100 plants just west of Fort Payne and arrested 53-year old Eddie Lamar McKinney of Fort Payne.

McKinney was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 1st and transported to the DeKalb County Detention Center where he was later released after posting a $10,500 bond.

Officers discovered over 350 plants near Mentone Wednesday and expect to make an arrest in that case soon.

A total of 459 plants were seized in 4 different locations in the 2-day operation. Street value of the destroyed plants is approximately $900,000.
