The American Legion Department of Alabama has a new Vice-Commander, Cherokee County’s own David L. Hartline.
He was sworn in on Saturday, June 22nd in Huntsville. Judge Kirk Day, Post #62 Adjutant and a graduate of West Point, entered Hartline’s name into nomination; that nomination was seconded by Vietnam Veteran and 3rd Division Commander Jim Jeffries of Mobile.
Hartline has previously served as Post #62 Commander, District #13 Commander – and Division One Commander; he is now one-step away from State Commander.
This is the first time that Cherokee County has had a veteran reach these heights in the American Legion.
Hartline has given motivational speeches all around the country to churches & clubs and veterans groups & active duty troops for many years.
Hartline said it was “an honor to be selected by his own post, district, division and state, to serve them in the fight for veterans rights and to work with young people in the 39 programs within the American Legion.”
