The Centre City Council has voted to give additional money to local Dixie Youth Baseball teams who will be playing state tournaments later this month.
They money will help pay for lodging expenses.
The 5-thousand dollars includes 16-hundred dollars previously provided by the city, 2-thousand additional dollars approved by the council Tuesday and 14-hundred dollars that the county commission voted to give on Monday.
In other action, the council voted to table the awarding of a bid for restroom renovations at the city park.
Only one bid came in at 44-thousand 450 dollars.
The council also heard quarterly reports Tuesday.
Fire Chief Kevin Ware gave his department’s report.
Firefighters responded to 53 calls, four were fires and 23 were wrecks with injuries.
Centre Police Chief Kirk Blankenship then gave his report.
There were 189 incident/offense reports for the quarter, 51 were for theft of property.
Centre Police made 96 arrests, took 31 accident reports and wrote 506 uniform traffic tickets, including 158 warnings.
It was also revealed that David Kirk is retiring from the police departments, effective July 29th and applications will soon be accepted for the vacancy.
Under building inspections, the city issued 9 commercial, 4 residential and 3 sign permits for the quarter, totaling 697-thousand 875 dollars and 50 cents.
The council also voted to provide 65-hundred dollars for the just completed So Cool Summer Youth Program, which is a budgeted item.
