Monday night, the Cedar Bluff Town Council voted to purchase several items from the Mt. Weisner Volunteer Fire Department.

That includes five sets of turnout gear, three air packs and a hose dryer, all for the price of 3-thousand dollars.

Although the turnout gear only has two years of service left, Mayor Martha Baker says that will give the town enough time to purchase new gear gradually.

The council also approved the purchase of several other items, including twelve sections of hose, fifteen helmets, ten sets of gloves, three sets of new turnout gear and ten hoods.

Total cost is just over 12-thousand dollars, which includes the removal of the Mt. Weisner logos from the used gear and the addition of Cedar Bluff patches.

The town got some help with the finances involved with funding the fire department Monday.

Ken Blair presented a 25-hundred donation check to the council to put new hoses on one truck.

Blair challenged the council and public to work together to purchase another truck with all new hoses.

In other fire-related business, Mayor Baker spoke about issues with fire hydrants in the town.

The hydrants at the condos off of Dykes Road have been fixed.

A hydrant is currently needed on the Coosa.

Mayor Baker has asked Fire Chief Bobby Joe Stinson to compile a list of all of the hydrants that need repaired or replaced.

The list will be forwarded to the Utilities Board.
