The two other bodies found in a truck submerged in the waters of Weiss Lake two weeks ago have now been identified by the Alabama Dept. of Forensic Sciences in Huntsville.
They are 51-year old Opal Norris Dickerson and her alleged husband 49-year old Jimmy Lee Dickerson age 49, whose last known addresses were in Piedmont.
According to a report from the Jacksonville Post of the Alabama State Patrol, Mr. and Mrs. Dickerson, along with 41-year old Bobby Dewayne Hyatt, also of Piedmont, all died when the 1994 Dodge pickup they were traveling plunged into the backwaters of the lake off of County Road 31 about 4 miles east of Centre.
The accident report lists the date of the accident as May 10th, time unknown.
According to previous reports, law enforcement responded to the scene at around 1:30 p.m. on June 13th after a fisherman reported seeing a vehicle upside down in the water off.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office and Alabama State Troopers were on the scene along with Cherokee EMS and the Cherokee County Rescue Squad and it was quickly determined that there were bodies inside the small Dodge pickup truck, which had to be pulled up a steep embankment by a tow truck.
The accident investigation was then turned over to the Alabama State Patrol.
