DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputies have located a teenager who went missing in the Fort Payne area over the weekend.

Jeremiah Sharrow, 16, mentally handicapped, was found Sunday night inside a camper in the Dogtown area. Deputies said he was dehydrated and was taken to a local hospital to be checked out.

Sharrow was last seen at the Word of Faith Church on Highway 176 at the intersection of County Road 107 in Fort Payne Friday.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office said the teen was involved in a one-vehicle wreck on the same highway early Saturday morning; causing damage to another car, a trailer and a fire hydrant. It is believed he became frightened and ran off into the woods.

A search and rescue team from Madison County assisted the deputies in the search.

The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department has turned the crash investigation over to Alabama State Troopers.
