It’s official.
Former Cherokee County sports-standout Coty Blanchard is a member of the Tampa Bay Rays.
Blanchard was chosen by the Rays, in the 15th round of the Major League Baseball draft on June 8th – and he signed his professional baseball contract last Saturday afternoon in Centre.
The details of the five year contract were not disclosed.
With the signing, Blanchard closes out a stellar dual-sport career at Jacksonville State University
Blanchard has been assigned to the Rays minor league affiliate in Princeton, West Virginia.
Princeton plays in the Eastern Division of the Appalachian League, and they’ll open their season this Thursday (June 20th) on the road against the Danville Braves.
