Rev. Raymond Dailey Rainey, 94, of Piedmont, passed away on Thursday, June 13, 2013. He was an assistant pastor of Piedmont Church of the Nazarene for 36 years, served in the US Army during WWII in Germany, and retired from SCT as a fixer after 39 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Dailey and Mattie Harden Rainey; Son: Bernie Ray Rainey; son in law: David E. Ross; 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 15, at 7:00 p.m. from the Piedmont Church of the Nazarene with Rev. David Ingram and Rev. Herbert Roundtree officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 5- 7 PM. Cremation will follow as final disposition.
Pallbearers will be Dakota McGatha, Dewayne Lane, Hugh Bedwell, Norman Parker, Stephen Ingram, and Brian McWilliams. Casket Guard will be John (Doc) Studdard.
Ray, as he was known, is survived by his wife of 40 years, Myrtice Bedwell Rainey; 3 sons: Frank (Bonnie) Rainey, Gerald (Patsy) Rainey, Clarence (Mary Ann) Rainey; 4 daughters: Sandra (Frankie) Anthony, Joyce (Gerald) Walker, Vivian (Dale) Warner, and Kathy Ross; 15 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, and 4 great, great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews
The family would like to thank his special caregivers: Dewayne Lane, Denina Studdard, Onda Garrett, Sandy Mobley, and Ramona Coheley. The family requests no flowers, however contributions may be made in his memory to the Piedmont Church of the Nazarene, in care of Rev. David Ingram.
