Vehicle Pulled From Water on County Road 31 – Bodies Recovered

County Road 31 Accident 018Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver has informed WEIS Radio News that his office has assisted in recovering a pickup truck from the backwater of Weiss Lake on Thursday afternoon.

Law enforcement arrived on the scene around 1:30pm, after a fisherman reported a vehicle being in the water on County Road 31, approximately a mile-and-a-half off Highway 411.

The Cherokee County Rescue Squad assisted in the removal of the vehicle – a small Dodge pick-up – as well as three bodies inside; the sheriff says this is being investigated as an accident at this time.

The bodies have been sent to the forensic lab for positive identification and to determine an exact cause of death.

Cherokee EMS was also on the scene.

We’ll have more information as it becomes available.
