Wednesday Stand-off in Rome Ends Peacefully

A tense stand-off between a woman and Floyd County Police that lasted several hours, came to a peaceful conclusion on Wednesday.

A 9-1-1 call at approximately 3:00 that afternoon alerted Floyd County Police of a woman with a gun acting distraught on the grounds of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church near the cemetery.

According to Floyd County Police Public Information Officer Jerome Poole – Jennifer Bradshaw told police that she did not want to harm anyone but herself.

Police evacuated workers at the church and residents of surrounding homes as a precaution – and closed a section of Doyle Road, diverting traffic to Shorthorn Road.

Police were able to safely and peacefully neutralize the situation at around 6:00pm.

Bradshaw was taken to Floyd Medical Center for evaluation. Police said she won’t be facing any charges.
