Getting the money is one thing – keeping it is something altogether different.
The Collinsville BP Station at the intersection of I-59 and Highway 68 was robbed shortly before 6:00 Thursday morning.
The female clerk on duty told police, that a black male in his mid-40’s had grabbed her and taken around $100 from the cash register, before fleeing in a red jeep.
The clerk was able to get a tag number, and the suspect was identified by video confirmation – as being 47 year old Jeffery Eugene Tucker of Scottsboro.
Tucker was placed under arrest in Gadsden, at 11:15am – by members of the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Task Force. Investigators working with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the Scottsboro Police Department, Etowah County Sheriff’s Office & Collinsville Police Department all worked together on the case.
Tucker remains in the Etowah County Detention Center charged with the Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance.
A robbery warrant was also issued for Tucker, with a Hold placed on him for DeKalb County.
DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris stated “This case was brought to a quick conclusion due to all these officers working together. There were over 20 officers on this case from 6:00 am until Tuckers arrest. I’m very glad we were able to get this person off the streets.”
