According to a just-released accident report from the Georgia State Patrol, the Cloudland woman who was fatally injured in a single-vehicle accident on Old Highway 337 in Menlo, was traveling too fast for conditions.
The report stated that 50 year old Shelia Rape was, based on the observations of the trooper and that of a witness, simply traveling too fast for conditions prior to the May 18th accident.
The witness told troopers, that she was sitting in her driveway, about to pull out onto 337 – when she noticed the victim’s F-150 pickup leave the roadway, strike a ditch, and then overturn several times before coming to rest upside down in a field.
The driver was ejected from the vehicle and the witness immediately dialed 9-1-1.
According to the accident report, excessive speed was the contributing cause for the wreck.
