An Etowah County woman who admitted to using cocaine while pregnant, has been placed under arrest and charged with chemical endangerment of a child.
According to Sheriff Todd Entrekin 33 year old Gadsden resident Jennifer Leigh Wheat has been charged with a count of chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment, in which, controlled substances are ingested, produced or distributed.
Afterwards – Sheriff Entrekin stated (quote) “It is simply unacceptable for an adult to endanger a child’s life with their choice to use drugs.” (end-quote)
Wheat was booked into the Etowah County Detention Center and she is currently being held on a $10,000 bond.
