Rome Convenience Store Held Up…..Again

Big H

For the second time in less than two months a business in South Rome was the target of an armed robbery.

Rome Police Sgt. Trixie Morgan says that two black males dressed all in black entered the Big H convenience store on East Main Street at around 11 p.m. Friday night and cornered the clerk.

One of the suspects wielded a knife and the other a large stick, both demanding money out of the store’s safe.

There was no safe, however, so the two took an undetermined amount of money from the register, along with beer and cigarettes, and then fled.

According to Morgan, the clerk believes it was the same two suspects that robbed the store with a knife on March 22nd.

During that incident an employee was confronted by two black males, both wearing hoodies and bandanas over their faces.

One of the two suspects then reportedly held a knife to the clerk’s throat, and led him back inside where they demanded that he open the slot machines for money; after being told by the clerk that he was unable to open the machines – the two took money out of the register – and several phone cards – before fleeing the scene.

Attempts to locate the assailants have been unsuccessful.
