Gadsden Man Recovering From Shotgun Blast

A 34 year old Gadsden man remains hospitalized after being shot by a 78 year old grandmother.

According to Gadsden Police Captain Bobby Jackson, the unnamed man was shot Monday night, after allegedly being involved some type of confrontation with three other men in the 3200 block of Stonewall Avenue, shortly after 10:00pm.

Several witnesses at the scene said the victim attempted to provoke an altercation with the three other individuals – going so far as to attempt to cut one of the three with a knife; that individual was armed with a handgun and reportedly fired two rounds in the direction of the aggressor – but neither bullet hit the man.

Jackson says at that point, the 78 year old grandmother of one of the three men fired one shotgun blast – striking the victim in the chest area; the man was rushed to the hospital for treatment, but according to officers on the scene, his wounds did not appear to be life-threatening.

There’s no word yet on just what may have provoked that incident, or if any charges will be filed in connection with the case.
